About This Quote

This quote is from a poem by Kate Chopin. The quote is from a line from a poem that's a very powerful but heartbreaking one about a woman who's lost her lover and that person's child. It speaks of how she doesn't want to walk around with the pain of her loss inside of her forever, but how she wants to share it with the world. She wants to go out and be around others so that they can hear about their love as well as see them together.

She also spoke of the deep suffering she suffered as a result of losing her love, and how painful it was for her to live in those days after they died. She spoke of being at peace now, after slowly coming to understand the suffering that comes from suffering. And then she spoke about how she regretted that suffering, because now she knows suffering isn't worth it, and happiness is much better than suffering.
